A walk in Madrid: my ultimate hobby to check out doors

January 23, 2018

The city of Madrid is a destination full dynamic architecture and exquisite old masterpiece. Not only by visiting museums such as El Prado, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (in fact there are too many museums with fantastic collection of art to name here), you can also find “pleasure for eyes” on the street level.

Salamanca, directly located north of Parque de El Retiro is where I would recommend for a walk.
You will soon notice incredible details of each buildings, its elegant form and impressive front doors.

I love having a look at doors. And I enjoy it so much specially in Spain. This is a hobby that I discovered when I moved to Mexico City in 2015.

Each house and building shows a completely unique and individual design at its front door. Door is where the outside world is connected to inner space. This is where master of the home leaves and comes back, even with emotional souvenir from the experience outside. There are so many stories passing through these doors. These doors are the silent witnesses of the history.
